The phrase and the clutch itself originated around 2016 from a highly publicized collaboration between luxury house Gucci and Brooklyn-based, Olympic-snowboarder-turned-street-artist Trevor Andrew, widely known as GucciGhost. : Andrew famously created the project with the mantra, “I’m gonna do this until Gucci either sues me or hires me.”

The “LIFE IS GUCCI” slogan and his entire collaboration with Gucci’s former creative director, Alessandro Michele, came to represent believing in something until it becomes real. Owning this clutch can be real though!
